Geofencing
Geofencing for fleets: know when vehicles enter and leave
Draw geozones around depots, customer sites and places vehicles should not go. Fleet Hero checks every recorded position against them, records each entry and exit, and alerts the people you choose for the zones that matter.
Included in every Fleet Hero package, from €10.80 per vehicle per month with the SIM card and mobile data.
01How it works
From a drawn area to an alert
Draw a zone
Draw a zone straight on the map
Choose 'Draw Geozone', click on the map to place the corners and double-click to close the shape. Give the zone a name, a colour and a description, and it is ready for alerts and reports.
- Polygons of any shape, around a yard, a building site or a whole district
- Change the shape later by editing the zone on the map
- Deleting a zone warns you about the rules that use it
Entries and exits
Every entry and exit, recorded as it happens
Each position a tracker sends is checked against your active zones as it arrives. When a vehicle crosses a boundary, Fleet Hero records the entry or exit with the time, the vehicle and, when one is assigned, the driver, and shows a pop-up on the live map.
- One event per real crossing, not one per position while a vehicle waits inside
- Zones can be drawn under the vehicle markers on the live map
- Entries and exits feed alerts and the geozone activity report
Zone alerts
Alerts for the zones that matter
Create a rule with the geozone entry or geozone exit alert type, for all zones or only the ones you pick. Add a schedule, such as outside working hours, and choose who is told in the app, by e-mail or, in the Business package, through a webhook.
- Geozone exit is one of the popular starting points in the rule editor
- See who will be notified before you save the rule
- Each alert opens the exact spot on the live map
Zone activity
Zone activity in reports
The geozone activity report counts entries and exits per zone for any period, such as this week, last month or your own dates. Export it to PDF, Excel or CSV, or, in the Professional and Business packages, have it e-mailed to colleagues on a schedule.

05Questions
Questions about geofencing
Not answered here? Write to [email protected]. A person from our team in Skopje replies, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 CET.
What is a geozone?
An area you draw on the map, such as a depot, a customer site or a building site. Fleet Hero checks each vehicle's positions against it and records when the vehicle enters or leaves.
How quickly is an entry recorded?
With the first position the tracker sends from inside the zone, so the delay depends on how often the tracker reports while driving: every 60, 30 or 10 seconds, depending on your package.
Which shapes can we draw?
In the web app, polygons of any shape, drawn corner by corner. Office Hero Manager, the phone app that is coming soon, also draws circles and rectangles.
Who receives zone alerts?
The people you name in the rule, in the app and by e-mail. If you name nobody, everyone who can see alerts is notified, and the editor tells you so before you save.
Can a zone alert apply only at certain hours?
Yes. A rule can run always, during working hours (Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:00), outside working hours or on a custom schedule, in your company's time zone.
Can we see past entries and exits?
Yes. The geozone activity report counts them per zone for any period, and the geozone event log lists each one.
