Training and certifications
Training management and certification tracking in one register
HR Hero keeps your course catalogue, training sessions and budgets together with every certificate your people hold. A skills matrix shows who can do what, and an expiring list shows which certificates need renewing.
Training and certifications are part of HR Hero Professional, at €4.90 per employee per month.
01How it works
From the course catalogue to the skills matrix
Course catalogue
A course catalogue with costs and providers
Add each course with its category, duration in hours, delivery mode, cost and currency, provider and description. Categories can be nested, so a long catalogue stays easy to browse.
- Four delivery modes: self-paced, live online, classroom and blended
- Totals for all, active, self-paced and live online courses
Sessions and enrolments
Sessions, enrolments and progress in one place
Schedule a session of a course with its start and end, location or meeting link and number of seats. Enrol employees in the course and, where it runs on fixed dates, in a session, then record their progress and score until you mark the enrolment complete.
- Enrolment states: assigned, in progress, completed, failed and withdrawn
- Totals for all, in-progress and completed enrolments, with the average progress
- Filter sessions by course and by state
Budgets
Training budgets for each year
Allocate a budget for a fiscal year to the whole company, a department or one employee. When an employee completes a course that has a cost, the cost is added to the spent amount of that employee's budget for the year; department and company budgets show the amount you allocated.
- A budget in the currency you choose
- Allocated, spent and remaining on one card per budget
Certifications
Every certificate with its number, issuer and expiry date
Issue a certificate to an employee from your catalogue of certificate types, with the certificate number, the issue and expiry dates and the issuer's details. Renewing creates a new record linked to the old one, and the expiring list groups the certificates that run out within 7, 30, 60 and 90 days.
- States: active, expired, revoked and suspended
- A renewed certificate stays on record as expired
- Certificates without an expiry date, such as lifetime qualifications, are fine too
Skills
A skills matrix for the whole team
Build a skills catalogue by category and see every employee against every skill in one heatmap, on five levels from novice to expert. Select any cell to record an assessment; assessing the same person and skill again updates the existing record.
- Five levels: novice, beginner, competent, proficient and expert
- Employees can add their own skill levels in Office Hero Connect

Course categories
Group courses in a nested category tree, in the order you choose.

Certificate categories are a list you manage, with a translation for each of the 15 languages.
Training records in Office Hero Connect
Employees see their courses, with the status and completion date, in the portal.
Drivers are employees too
A professional driver in Fleet Hero is the same person as in HR Hero, so their certificates sit on one record.
CSV export
Select rows on the course, session, enrolment, certificate and skills lists and download them as CSV.
Plan certificate renewals yourself
HR Hero does not send reminders when a certificate is about to expire. Check the expiring list and the 30-day tile regularly, for example at the start of each week, and renew from there. HR Hero is also a register, not a course player: it records courses and results but does not play e-learning content.
04Questions
Questions about training and certifications
Not answered here? Write to [email protected]. A person from our team in Skopje replies, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 CET.
Does HR Hero remind us before a certificate expires?
No, there are no automatic reminders. The expiring list groups certificates by 7, 30, 60 and 90 days, and the register counts those that expire within 30 days, so a short weekly check is enough to plan renewals.
Can employees take online courses in HR Hero?
HR Hero is the training register, not a course player. It records the course and the session, with a meeting link for live online sessions, and tracks each person's progress, score and completion.
How are training costs tracked?
Each course can carry a cost and a currency. Budgets are set per fiscal year for the company, a department or an employee, and when an employee completes a course with a cost, it is added to the spent amount of that employee's budget. Spending is recorded on employee budgets only.
Which certificates can we track?
Any type you add to the catalogue, from driving licences and health and safety cards to professional qualifications, language and IT certificates. Each type has an issuer, a validity in months, an optional country and a mandatory flag.
Who fills in the skills matrix?
HR and managers record assessments from the matrix, on five levels. Employees can also add their own levels in Office Hero Connect, where they appear next to the levels their manager recorded.
What do employees see of their training?
In Office Hero Connect, each employee sees their courses with the status and completion date, and their skills. Training records are read-only for them.
Which package includes training and certifications?
HR Hero Professional, at €4.90 per employee per month. See pricing for everything each package includes.
